Course Overview
The Sustainable Development Goals Report 2025 provides a clear and data driven assessment of global progress toward the 2030 Agenda, marking a critical moment as the world enters the final five years of implementation. While notable achievements have been made over the past decade—including expanded access to electricity, improvements in child and maternal health, and increased school participation—overall progress remains insufficient, uneven and, in several areas, reversing. Only 35 per cent of SDG targets are currently on track or making moderate progress, while nearly half are moving too slowly and 18 per cent are trending backwards.
The report highlights the profound impact of overlapping crises, including conflict, climate change, economic instability and rising debt burdens, which continue to strain countries' ability to invest in essential services and long-term development. Despite these challenges, the report underscores that transformation is still possible through six pivotal transitions that, if accelerated, can unlock progress across the Goals.
